Sony a7CR Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera (Silver)

Sony a7CR Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera (Silver)

The alpha 7C compact mirrorless range just got bigger with the new alpha 7C R, which comes with a whopping 61 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor capable of stunning image resolution, in-camera 10bit 4K capture, and impressive AI-assisted auto-focus and real-time tracking tools to get your videos and photography to the next level.

All the megapixels in a tiny body

The alpha 7C R comes with an incredible 61 megapixel full-frame Exmor R image sensor. The back-illuminated sensor's noise reduction, gapless on-chip lenses, anti-reflection optical coating, elimination of the optical low-pass filter that is usually positioned in front of the sensor and other original technologies deliver high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range.

Advanced BIONZ XR engine

The advanced BIONZ XR processing engine delivers up to 8x times more processing power than its predecessor. It minimises processing latency while boosting movie and still image processing power, achieving natural gradations, realistic colour, low noise, superior image quality and fast menu response.

Advanced imaging technology allows sensitivity settings from ISO 100 to ISO 32000 for stills and movies. Dynamic range at lower sensitivities is a wide 15 stops for smooth, realistic gradations from deep shadows to highlights.

Incredible 10bit 4:2:2 4K/30p Full-Frame video and 4K/60p in Super35 mode

The new Sony a7C II offers 4K 60p/50p movie capture with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, taking advantage of the latest BIONZ XR processing engine and its wide dynamic range to produce exceptionally smooth images of fast-moving subjects. When recording 4K video at 30p, full-frame 7K oversampling delivers 4K with enhanced clarity and detail.  In-camera 10-bit 4:2:2 recording is available when using Long GOP or All-Intra compression, making it possible to colour grade for fuller, more natural gradations while generally providing greater editing freedom.

S-Cinetone and S-Log3, and LUTs for more creative options in post-production

Utilising the same colour science from Sony's highly regarded Cinema Line, S-Cinetone delivers natural mid-tones that are essential to healthy-looking skin tones, plus soft colours and gorgeous highlights.

The alpha 7C II also features an S-Log3 gamma curve that emphasises gradation characteristics from shadows to mid-grey (18% grey), achieving 14+ stops of latitude10. S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine colour gamut settings are also provided. You can apply a custom LUT (Look Up Table) with a Log gamma curve to preview how the footage will look in post-production, or to even record footage conveniently with a PP LUT already applied.

Advanced optical 5-axis image stabilisation

Enjoy even more stable handheld shooting for stills, thanks to the a7C II’s high-precision image stabilisation unit, advanced gyro sensors, and optimised image stabilisation algorithms that effectively correct 7.0-steps of camera shake. Compatible lenses with built-in image stabilisation combine with improved synchronisation between the body and lens to make framing easier even at telephoto focal lengths that can otherwise cause a large amount of blur.

Active Mode provides enhanced image stabilisation for handheld shooting. A precision image stabilisation unit, advanced gyro sensors, and an optimised image stabilisation algorithm work together for exceedingly smooth, stable movie footage. In addition to this in-body stabilisation, compatible lenses with their own built-in image stabilisation coordinate with the camera body for highly effective control, enabling handheld telephoto shots with greater clarity.

AI-assisted Advanced Subject Recognition and AI framing for video

The a7C II is equipped with an AI processing unit specifically dedicated to processing significant amounts of data, enabling more accurate recognition of subjects and recognition of a wider range of subject types.

Using AI-based subject recognition technology, the Auto Framing feature automatically crops for optimum framing when shooting movies. Even when the camera is mounted on a tripod, the framing is continually adjusted so that the recorded footage looks like the subject was being followed by a camera operator. Accurate tracking is possible even when the camera is being operated remotely via the Creators' App on a smartphone.

Advanced Auto-Focus and Real-time Tracking

The a7C II also features a significantly improved AI-based subject recognition, offering higher tracking reliability in a wider range of shooting situations. Specify a subject and half-press the shutter button to get the camera to start tracking, leaving you free to concentrate on framing and composition.

Pixel Shift Multi-Shooting Technology

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting uses the precision in-body image stabilisation system to capture multiple pixel-shifted images that are later composited on a PC to achieve overwhelming resolution in a single image. 16-image composites with approximately 240.8 million pixels (19008 x 12672 pixels) can be produced from data that is equivalent to approximately 963.2 million pixels.

Wide, high-density AF reliably captures subjects

The BIONZ XR engine and updated algorithms achieve notably improved Fast Hybrid AF performance. Up to 693 phase detection points11 cover approx. 79% of the image area, accurately acquiring focus even when the subject is small. The a7CR includes both phase-detection and contrast-detection AF to ensure fast, stable focus acquisition even in single AF (AF-S) mode.
